My Story
My desire to become a therapist started when I was very young. I was always the child others came to seeking a soft shoulder or a friendly ear. My acceptance and understanding of others’ thoughts and emotions allowed me to offer them empathy and validation.
However, I learned the hard way that not everyone is capable of providing this in return. My struggle to find others willing and able to ease my path led me to a dark place—a place of resentment, depression, cynicism, and isolation. Life seemed cruel and unfair. Over time, the pain became restlessness, and a need to recreate my self and my life.
There is a saying of questionable origin that goes “When the student is ready, the teacher appears.” When this student was ready, she went full on into a Masters program. Many teachers appeared, in school and in life, who eased my path substantially. I struggled, and I succeeded. And you can, too!
I tell you my story so you see that I can only sit with you in your darkness because I have transcended through mine. I did not overcome my own losses and failures alone. I surrounded myself with others who supported me and, even more importantly, never let me give up on myself. Now I offer the inner wisdom I found to help you find yours.
